Quest for Valor is a 3D action adventure game with hack and slash, puzzle, and platforming elements. I start using Photoshop to draw the basic concept of the dungeon. From there I use Unreal Engine 4 BSP to white box the whole dungeon as well as enemy placement. I had gone through many iteration at this point to make sure the game flows well and I have to change some geometry of the map to make it more interesting. However, the basic concept of the level is similar to what I had planned in the beginning. Next, I designed a boss encounter with custom Blueprint Actors. Lastly, I also designed some cinematic to make the game more exciting as well as set dress the whole level to make it believable.

Challenge

To make the level more believable I placed item all around the dungeon one by one to make it look like someone had been in this dungeon before.

To finish the game strong i also need a interesting boss encounter at the end of the game.

It is also my first time designing a boss encounter. The boss will summon fireballs from the sky that will deal area damage. The player will have to look and predict where the fireball is going to land and try to avoid them.

If the boss is critically injured he will summon a swarm of micro-dragon which will move towards the player and explode.
